The usual online tool uploads your file to a server, processes it there and sends it back. For a contract, a scanned ID, a bank statement or an unpublished document, that step is itself the risk: whose machine the file sat on, for how long, whether a copy was kept, whether it was used for anything else — none of it is something you can verify. Every tool on this site runs inside your own browser. The file never leaves this computer, and once the page has loaded the tools keep working with the network disconnected. The cost is that processing is limited by your device, so very large files are slower than a server would be. We think that trade is worth making.
There are no accounts here, and therefore no logins, no free tiers and no "2 conversions left today". You never register an email address for a one-off conversion, and nothing stamps a watermark or an advert page onto what you export. The tools are plain static pages: open one and use it, and a bookmark is all you need to keep.
All of them are things we kept needing and kept having to search for again: handing a Markdown file to a colleague who only reads Word, cutting apart a book scanned two pages to a sheet, joining a few expense documents into one PDF, checking whether a cut-out image really has a transparent background, glancing at the JSON an API just returned, generating a password that isn't a reused one. What they have in common is that each task is small and you leave as soon as it is done — installing an application for that is a poor trade.
Every page is laid out for mobile, so a phone browser is all you need. Files can be picked from a chat app, a cloud drive or your camera roll, and the result saves straight back to the phone. Video trimming needs a URL to work from; every other tool operates on files already on the device.
